Intelligent Automation is the convergence of smart technologies with automated processes to elevate the business process automation. Examples of Intelligent Process Automation are increasing in today’s life. Big organisations where huge amount of work takes place can benefit from Intelligent Automation in their processes where there is a need to maintain data and present it to clients. Usually, these processes are time taking and there are chances of mistakes without Intelligent Automation. Intelligent Automation provides faster, more reliable results and significant advantages to business process automation at enterprise scale.

“Intelligent Automation and its various practical deployment is a large concept and is beyond technological efficiency. It is used to improve the customer and employee experience and boost the productivity of organisation,” says Milan Sheth, Executive Vice President, IMEA, Automation Anywhere. Though Intelligent Automation is a concept that came to light recently, it has made its way quickly in the business world. Almost 65 percent of the world’s big companies like Netflix, JP Morgan have adopted this technology and have seen their business efficiency growing up to 60 percent.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence can be regarded as the most crucial component of Intelligent Automation. It tries to create systems that are capable of learning and reasoning similar to a human being. Artificial Intelligence encloses many important concepts such as Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Big Data, Visual Recognition, Deep Learning etc. Artificial Intelligence can decipher the patterns from previous experience.

Businesses can use machine learning and complex algorithms in analysing the structured and unstructured data which will ultimately help them to develop a knowledge base and form the predictions based on those data. This is known as the decision making capability of Intelligent Automation which improves the experience of the user. Artificial Intelligence can detect the threats easily that are difficult for the humans to identify. So, it can also be said that Artificial Intelligence will be successful in reducing the downtime of an organisation by quickly identifying and resolving the issues.

Robotic Process Automation (RPA)

Robotic Process Automation is a technology which is suitable to replace the simple and manual tasks which are performed on a repetitive basis by human beings. So, it can be said that this technology will be helpful for the employees as they can increase their focus on other important areas of organization which are often forgotten such as upgrading their skills from time to time and the company’s relations with its customers. Robotic Process Automation is known to interact with next level applications which are the software layers at the graphic interface level and are considered as the relatively fast technology to implement. This technology has the potential to show immediate results to a company by saving cost and time.

This intelligent technology can bring in productivity in the business of an organization and enhances the overall customer experience. Also, since often employees complain that they are frustrated with the manual and repetitive tasks, this technology takes care of this issue by automating most of the repetitive and mundane tasks.

Business Process Management (BPM)

Business Process Management can be considered as the discipline which can improve the business process in an end to end manner by analysing it, executing improvements, monitoring the improved process and continuously optimizing it. It can be helpful to improve the order, insight and efficiency of the collective workflows that make up any given business process. Business Process Management reduces the chaos within the collective workflows that make up a process. Also, it ensures the complete tracking and storage of all the information that is exchanged and generated during the process from beginning to end.

According to experts, BPM acts as a base layer in an organisation which automates the behaviour of complex processes that require people to intervene in data entry and decision making. These include the use of systems at specific moments such as calculations or integrations, storage and generation of data.

Integration between Systems

Mostly companies struggle to maintain a strong connection and integration between systems, since each system and software has some odd characteristics of its own. Integrations offer an Application Programming Interface (API) which is used for interacting. There are scattered pieces of an organisation’s information subsystems that need to fit together into one well-coordinated, cohesive architecture or integrated application mesh. It’s a difficult and complex building process which is used to connect functions of an organisation from varying systems be it existing hardware, software and communications.

The Way Forward

With the rise of new technologies, existing technologies will converge to form new cognitive capabilities. The future of Intelligent Automation will lead businesses towards more adaptive processes that help the leaders to uncover greater return on investment from their employees, robots and resources. Many industry experts believe that Intelligent Automation can help to create a better tomorrow, in workplace as well as in society. This technology is shaping the future of industries and businesses in such a way that nothing might be the same in a workplace in the next few years.
